OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha Supernovas, Nebraska’s professional volleyball team and first Pro Volleyball Champions, are thrilled to announce the first signings of its 2024 rookie class with the additions of former Nebraska and USC outside hitter Ally Batenhorst and Ohio State opposite Emily Londot.
Batenhorst makes her return to the state of Nebraska after spending her first three college seasons as a Nebraska volleyball player in Lincoln under legendary head coach John Cook. The former Husker appeared in at least 26 matches each year at NU with her best season coming in 2022 as a sophomore when she recorded 2.33 kills, 1.06 digs and 0.57 blocks per set in 72 sets.
Batenhorst recently capped off her college career at USC, helping the Trojans (22-10) reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they fell to the two-time defending national champion Texas Longhorns. Batenhorst had a breakout season on her way to being named to the All-Big Ten First Team. The Texas native led the Trojans with 563.5 points with 3.94 kills per set on a .231 clip alongside 30 aces. She was also second on the team with 2.11 digs per set and added 96 blocks – also second on the squad.
“I’m beyond excited to be drafted and sign with the Supernovas! It’s such a blessing to be able to play professionally in the state near my family, and I can’t wait to play in front of the amazing Nebraska fans again,” Batenhorst said. “They are so supportive and make me so happy to be back! There truly is no place like Nebraska, and I can’t wait to get started! Go Novas!”
Londot – Omaha’s second round pick at No. 10 overall – ended a prolific career five-year career with Ohio State this fall. The 6-foot-3 opposite put down 2,291 career kills (4.20 K/S), 1,314 digs (2.41 D/S), 434 blocks, 86 aces and 2,606.5 points.
Like Batenhorst, Londot was named to the All-Big Ten First Team for the fourth time in her career. She’ll also look to add another All-American honor to her name when those are announced at the NCAA Final Four in Louisville. She was named a Second Team All-American in 2020 and 2022 while being named an Honorable Mention in 2021. She also earned the 2020 AVCA National Freshman of the Year award.
“I am honored and extremely excited to officially sign with the Supernovas,” Londot shared. “I will bring my hard work ethic and a strong desire to help the team succeed. I am looking forward to meeting the coaches, my teammates and getting to work for the upcoming season”
Both players will join the Supernovas, who are in the middle of Training Camp to prepare for the 2025 season. Omaha kicks off its title-defending campaign on Friday, January 10 by hosting the Atlanta Vibe at the CHI Health Center for Banner Night.
The Supernovas second full draft class also includes Kansas middle blocker and first-round pick Toyosi Onabanjo, Omaha native and outside hitter Lindsay Krause from Nebraska, outside hitter Valeria Vazquez-Gomez from Pittsburgh and setter Kendra Wait from Creighton.
Krause, Wait and Vazquez-Gomez will all compete in the NCAA Regional Semifinals this weekend. No. 1 overall seed Pittsburgh takes on Kentucky, No. 2 overall seed Nebraska faces Dayton, and Creighton goes against defending two-time national champion Texas.
