LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers added infielder/outfielder Cavan Biggio to the active roster and optioned outfielder Miguel Vargas.

Biggio, 29, was acquired today from the Blue Jays with cash considerations in exchange for minor league pitcher Braydon Ficher. He was designated for assignment on June 7 after appearing in 44 games for the Blue Jays. He hit .200 with four doubles, two homers and nine RBI this season with Toronto. He spent six seasons with the Blue Jays, slashing a combined .227/.343/.382 with 77 doubles, four triples, 48 homers and 176 RBI in 490 career games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the fifth round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Notre Dame University.

Vargas, 25, returns to Oklahoma City after playing in eight games for the Dodgers. He hit .250 with three doubles, one homer and four RBI. He has been with the Dodgers parts of three seasons, hitting .195 with nine homers and 44 RBI in 107 games. Prior to joining the Dodgers, he played in 39 games with Triple-A, hitting .295 with eight homers and 38 RBI.
