Detroit Casinos Report $108.35 Million in November Revenue

Detroit’s three casinos collectively reported $108.35 million in revenue for November 2024. Table games and slots generated $106.44 million, while retail sports betting contributed $1.91 million.

Monthly Table Games, Slot Revenue, and Taxes:

Revenue from table games and slots in November 2024 saw a significant increase of 40.1% compared to November 2023. This surge is partially attributed to the strike by casino employees in October and November 2023, which had lowered the previous year’s totals. Additionally, November’s revenue was 2.7% higher compared to October 2024. From January 1 to November 30, 2024, revenue from table games and slots rose by 5.6% compared to the same period in the previous year.

Monthly gaming revenue increases compared to November 2023:

  • MGM: Up 60.6% to $49.21 million
  • MotorCity: Up 34.0% to $33.06 million
  • Hollywood Casino at Greektown: Up 16.8% to $24.17 million

In November 2024, the three Detroit casinos paid $8.6 million in gaming taxes to the State of Michigan, up from $6.2 million in November 2023. They also submitted $13.2 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit for the month.

Monthly Retail Sports Betting Revenue and Taxes:

The three Detroit casinos reported a total retail sports betting handle of $20.99 million in November, with gross receipts totaling $1.9 million. Qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) for retail sports betting were down $1.2 million compared to November 2023 but up $2.7 million compared to October 2024.

In November, the casinos paid $72,376 in gaming taxes to the state and $88,460 in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit based on their retail sports betting revenue.

For October 2024, fantasy contest operators reported total adjusted revenues of $991,881 and paid $83,318 in taxes.
