MESA – The Chicago Cubs today reduced the spring roster from 36 to 34 players.

Right-handed pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. and infielder Dominic Smith have been released.

Chicago’s spring roster of 34 players consists of 16 pitchers, four catchers (two non-roster invitees), seven infielders (one non-roster invitee), six outfielders (one non-roster invitee) and one infielder/outfielder.
