CLEVELAND – Ahead of today’s series opener against Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox announced the return of left-handed pitcher Tyler Gilbert. He has been reinstated from the 15-day injured list following a rehabilitation stint at Class AAA Charlotte. To accommodate Gilbert on the active roster, the team has optioned fellow left-hander Brandon Eisert to Charlotte.

Gilbert, 31, was placed on the injured list on March 27 (retroactive to March 23) due to left knee bursitis. He joined the White Sox earlier this year in a trade with Philadelphia on January 1, which saw right-handed pitcher Aaron Combs head to the Phillies.

Eisert, 27, made three appearances for the White Sox this season, recording five strikeouts over 3.0 innings while giving up six hits and four runs.
