CHICAGO – Ahead of today’s series finale against Houston, the Chicago White Sox announced six roster adjustments:
- Activated from the 10-Day Injured List: INF Josh Rojas (returned from injury rehab at Triple-A Charlotte).
- Contract Selected from Charlotte: RHP Caleb Freeman.
- Recalled from Charlotte: LHP Tyler Gilbert.
- Placed on 15-Day Injured List: LHP Fraser Ellard (left lat strain).
- Optioned to Charlotte: RHP Penn Murfee.
- Designated for Assignment: INF Bobby Dalbec.
Player Updates
Josh Rojas, 30, has been sidelined since the start of the season due to a fractured right toe suffered during spring training. Signed by the White Sox on January 8, Rojas owns a career slash line of .247/.323/.362, with 100 doubles, six triples, 34 home runs, 189 RBI, and 59 stolen bases across 570 major-league games with Arizona (2019-23) and Seattle (2023-24).
Caleb Freeman, 27, has posted a 1.35 ERA in 10 relief outings between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte this year. He has held opposing hitters to a .083 batting average, excelling against right-handers with a .037/.103/.074 slash line. Originally drafted by the White Sox in 2019 (15th round, Texas Tech), Freeman owns a 3.61 ERA over six minor-league seasons. He will wear uniform No. 68.
Tyler Gilbert was optioned to Charlotte on April 30 but returns after compiling a 1-1 record with a 5.59 ERA across nine appearances (three starts) with the White Sox in 2025.
Fraser Ellard moves to the injured list after struggling in relief, holding an 0-2 record and a 6.75 ERA across six appearances this season.
Penn Murfee, 0-1 with a 7.82 ERA in 15 relief appearances this year, has been sent to Charlotte.
Bobby Dalbec, who was promoted from Charlotte on April 20, hit .222/.333/.278 with a double, RBI, and three walks in seven games before being designated for assignment.
Following these transactions, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at full capacity.
