Chicago – Prior to tonight’s game vs. Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox announced the following two roster moves:

  •  Selected contract from Class AAA Charlotte (1): RHP Sean Burke;
  •  Optioned to Charlotte (1): RHP Nick Nastrini.

     Burke, 24, is 2-7 with a 4.77 ERA (38 ER/71.2 IP), .207 (55-266) opponents average and 103 strikeouts (12.9 per 9.0 IP) over 19 starts between Charlotte and the Arizona Complex League White Sox this season. He has struck out eight-plus batters in four of his last six starts, including nine over 5.0 IP in his last outing on September 5 at Norfolk. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound Burke entered the season ranked by Baseball America as the No. 12 prospect in the White Sox system.

Burke will wear uniform No. 59 and has no major-league experience. He originally was selected by the White Sox in the third round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Maryland.

Nastrini, 24, is 0-7 with a 7.07 ERA (28 ER/35.2 IP) and 26 strikeouts in nine games (eight starts) over two stints with the White Sox this season. He is 3-9 with a 5.24 ERA (46 ER/79.0 IP) and 90 strikeouts over 18 starts with Charlotte in 2024.

Following the moves, Chicago’s 40-man roster increases to 39.
