Chicago White Sox Acquire Minor League Pitcher Jarold Rosado from Kansas City in Exchange for Infielder Paul DeJong

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have acquired right-handed pitcher Jarold Rosado from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for infielder Paul DeJong.

Rosado, 21, is 0-1 with a 1.85 ERA (8 ER/39.0 IP), 1.05 WHIP, .219 (30-137) opponents average, four saves and 45 strikeouts in 27 relief appearances with Class A Columbia this season. Rosado has made six straight scoreless appearances (8.0 IP) and owns a 0.44 ERA (1 ER/20.1 IP) over his last 14 outings since May 26, limiting opponents to a .136 (9-66) average.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Rosado is 2-3 with a 5.26 ERA (38 ER/65.0 IP) and 80 strikeouts (11.07 per 9.0 IP) in 42 career games (one start) over two minor-league seasons (2023-24) in the Royals organization. He originally was signed by Kansas City as an international free agent out of Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic on July 13, 2022. Rosado will report to Class A Kannapolis.

DeJong, 30, batted .228/.275/.430 (77-337) with 14 doubles, 18 home runs, 41 RBI and 38 runs scored in 102 games this season, his first with the White Sox after signing as a free agent on November 27, 2023. His 18 home runs are tied for the fifth-highest total among MLB shortstops.
