CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs have announced the recall of right-handed pitcher Gavin Hollowell from Triple-A Iowa. In a corresponding move, left-handed pitcher Jordan Wicks has been optioned to Iowa.

Hollowell’s Season Performance

Hollowell, 27, has appeared in five games with the Iowa Cubs this season, posting a 1-0 record with a 4.26 ERA (3 ER/6.1 IP) and an impressive 14.21 strikeouts per nine innings pitched. He recorded eight strikeouts in his last two outings, including a hitless and scoreless 2.0-inning performance against St. Paul, where he struck out five batters.
