TORONTO – The Canadian Football League has issued disciplinary actions stemming from Week 5, including a one-game suspension and four fines following postgame incidents and on-field infractions.

The Office of the Commissioner, led by Stewart Johnston, handles suspendible offences, while the Department of Health, Safety and Integrity oversees broader league discipline. In response to a heated postgame episode in Montreal, Commissioner Johnston emphasized the CFL’s commitment to upholding professionalism:

“Non-football acts negatively impact the reputation and professional standing of the CFL, and they will not be tolerated… The postgame altercation in Montreal became an unnecessary focal point, taking away from an incredibly entertaining game won on the final play.”

Disciplinary Actions – Week 5

Suspension

  • Kemoko Turay (BC Lions, DL) – Suspended 1 game for inciting a postgame altercation, classified as a non-football act.

Fines

  • Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund (Montreal, DL) – Fined for engaging in the altercation.
  • M.J. Sherman (Montreal, DL) – Also fined for involvement in the incident.
  • Pier-Olivier Lestage (Montreal, OL) – Fined for inappropriate contact with a TSN camera operator.
  • Frankie Griffin (Ottawa, LB) – Fined for delivering a high hit on Edmonton quarterback Tre Ford.

Per CFL policy, fine amounts are not publicly disclosed. Additionally, the league does not comment on:

  • Dress code violations
  • Discipline involving teams or non-player staff
  • Incidents involving released players

The disciplinary panel includes Greg Dick (Chief Football Operations Officer), Darren Hackwood (VP of Officiating), Ryan Janzen (AVP, Football Operations), and Eric Noivo (AVP, Health & Safety).
