SWAC OPENING KICKOFF

• The Alcorn State Braves and the Alabama State Hornets will meet at the Port City Classic on Saturday in Mobile, Ala. The game is set to be broadcast live on ESPN+ at 4:00 pm CST. • The Jackson State Tigers snapped a Florida A&M Rattlers 17-game conference winning streak on Saturday, October 19. • Week Ten of the season features a total of six conference games and no non-conference outings. • Southern will travel to Alabama A&M on Saturday at 2:00 pm in a game that will be broadcast live on HBCU GO. • Florida A&M successfully defended its FCS second-longest home winning streak against Southern winning 24-6 on October 26, making it 22 wins in a row at Bragg. • The Week Ten SWAC Digital Network schedules features Grambling State at Bethune-Cookman at 2:00 pm and Prairie View A&M at Mississippi Valley State at 2:00 pm. • The 2024 SWAC Football Championship is set for Saturday, Dec. 7.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Offensive

Gassett had another dominant performance where he finished with five receptions for 118 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. Gassett also had two punt returns for 40 yards and a punt return touchdown.

Co-Defensive

Williams led the Tigers with nine tackles and three tackles for loss as Texas Southern held Grambling State to 256 yards of total offense.

Co- Defensive

Scarbrough recorded eight tackles, including six solo stops and one tackle for loss. His interception ended Alabama A&M’s final drive and sealed the Hornets 27-19 win at the Magic City Classic. Scarbrough also had a pass break up and forced a fumble.

Specialist

Baeza had a perfect day kicking the ball in a 37-17 Jackson State victory over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday including connecting on all three of his field goals. He converted kicks of 24 yards, 39 yards, and 28 yards. Baeza also connected on all four of extra point attempts and took over kickoff duties recording a pair of touchbacks.

Newcomer

Burns led all Prairie View A&M rushers with 76 yards and one touchdown during the Panthers win over Texas A&M-Commerce. He also added 139 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns
