  • Two SoCon squads – Mercer and Chattanooga – are ranked in both the AFCA and Stats Perform polls to begin the season. Furman, Western Carolina and Wofford received votes in the AFCA and Stats Perform polls. The Terriers appear in the polls for the first time since the 2020-21 season.
  • Four SoCon teams are playing teams that are ranked or received votes in the AFCA and Stats Perform polls this week.
  • Wofford is 2-0 for the first time since the 2018 season. The Terriers have defeated two playoff teams from last season on the road in the opening weeks of the season. Wofford welcomes William & Mary, a top-15 opponent, this weekend in its home opener.
  • ETSU will play its second straight home game this Saturday. The Bucs host second-ranked North Dakota State, a program with 17 national titles with the most recent coming in 2021.
  • VMI will be looking for its second win over Georgia Tech in program history. The first win came in 1950, a game the Keydets won 14-13.
  • Western Carolina looks for its first win of the season at in-state foe Elon on Saturday. The
Catamounts and the Phoenix have not played since 2013, a game that saw Western Carolina win, 27-24, in Cullowhee. That contest was a SoCon matchup and ended Western’s 26-game conference losing streak.
