Acquire Right-Handed Pitcher Joshua Quezada from New York

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired right-handed pitcher Joshua Quezada from the New York Yankees in exchange for left-handed pitcher Clayton Andrews. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.

Quezada, 19, was signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on Jan. 16, 2023. During his first professional season, he went 6-0 with a 3.69 ERA in 11 games (4 starts) in the Dominican Summer League. He held opponents to a .214 batting average with 48 strikeouts in 46.1 innings pitched. Quezada hails from La Paz Centro, Nicaragua.

Andrews, 27, was selected by Milwaukee in the 17th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Long Beach State University. He made his Major League debut last season, making four relief appearances over four stints with Milwaukee. Andrews was designated for assignment on Feb. 7 following the signing of right-handed pitcher Jakob Junis.
