BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today traded left-handed pitcher Sean Newcomb to the Athletics, in exchange for cash considerations.

Newcomb, 31, was designated for assignment on May 24. The left-hander has posted a 3.95 ERA (18 ER/41.0 IP) with 41 strikeouts over 12 games (five starts) for Boston. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the first round (No. 15 overall) in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, the Massachusetts native owns a 4.46 ERA (234 ER/472.0 IP) in 187 career games (65 starts) with the Atlanta Braves (2017-22), Chicago Cubs (2022), Athletics (2023-24), and Red Sox (2025).
