BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox have reinstated catcher Connor Wong from the 10-day injured list, ahead of their upcoming series. To clear space on the roster, catcher Blake Sabol has been optioned to Triple-A Worcester.

Connor Wong Returns to Action

Wong, 28, played three rehab games with Triple-A Worcester, starting each at catcher and going 4-for-11 with one double, one home run, and three RBIs. The right-handed hitter has appeared in nine games for Boston this season, making seven starts behind the plate while batting 2-for-23.

Originally selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the third round of the 2017 MLB Draft, Wong has been a fixture in the Red Sox organization since 2021. Over 294 career games with Boston, he has posted a .252 batting average (227-for-902) with 53 doubles, 23 home runs, and 96 RBIs.

Blake Sabol Heads to Worcester

Sabol, 27, appeared in eight games for Boston this season, making four starts at catcher while batting 2-for-16 with one double and an RBI. He also spent time with Worcester, where he posted a .250 batting average (5-for-20) with two doubles and four RBIs in six games.

The left-handed hitter was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the seventh round of the 2019 MLB Draft. Over 129 career MLB games, spanning stints with the San Francisco Giants (2023-24) and the Red Sox (2025), Sabol has recorded a .237 batting average (85-for-358) with 13 home runs and 46 RBIs.
