The Boston Red Sox have announced the recall of right-handed pitcher Luis Guerrero from Triple-A Worcester. To make space on the active roster, right-handed pitcher Josh Winckowski has been optioned to Worcester following the team’s game against the Seattle Mariners last night.

Guerrero, 24, has appeared in eight games for Worcester this season, posting a 5.23 ERA (6 earned runs in 10.1 innings) with one save. A 17th-round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, Guerrero made his major league debut in 2024, showcasing promise by allowing no earned runs across 10 innings in nine appearances with Boston.

Winckowski, 26, pitched 3.0 innings in relief last night against Seattle. So far this season, he has made six appearances for the Red Sox, compiling a 3.86 ERA (5 earned runs over 11.2 innings). Additionally, he has pitched in two games for Worcester, recording nine strikeouts across 6.0 innings while allowing four runs (three earned). The Ohio native, originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2016, has a career ERA of 4.20 (113 earned runs in 242.1 innings) with 195 strikeouts over 121 games (21 starts) for Boston since 2022.
