BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox announced today that right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler has been placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 29, due to right shoulder bursitis. To fill his roster spot, the club has recalled right-hander Hunter Dobbins from Triple-A Worcester.

Walker Buehler (RHP, 30 years old)

Buehler has made six starts for the Red Sox this season, posting a 4-1 record with a 4.28 ERA (16 ER/33.2 IP) and 29 strikeouts. A former first-round selection (No. 24 overall) by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2015 MLB Draft, the Kentucky native has built an impressive career, compiling a 51-23 record with a 3.31 ERA (275 ER/747.1 IP) and 783 strikeouts across 137 career games (128 starts) between the Dodgers (2017-24) and Red Sox (2025).

Hunter Dobbins (RHP, 25 years old)

Dobbins made his Major League debut earlier this season, appearing in two starts for Boston, where he allowed four runs (three earned) while striking out 11 batters over 11.0 innings. He has also pitched in three games (one start) for Worcester, most recently delivering a six-inning performance on April 24 against Syracuse, where he allowed one run on four hits.

The Texas native was drafted by the Red Sox in the eighth round of the 2021 MLB Draft and has built a solid minor league career, recording a 3.88 ERA (138 ER/320.0 IP) with 317 strikeouts in 65 career games (62 starts).

With Buehler sidelined, Dobbins will provide much-needed rotation depth as Boston continues its early-season push in the AL East.
