Boston Red Sox Place Liam Hendriks on Injured List, Recall Nick Burdi from Triple-A Worcester

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox have placed right-handed pitcher Liam Hendriks on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to May 28) due to right hip inflammation. To compensate for his absence, the club has recalled right-hander Nick Burdi from Triple-A Worcester.

A veteran reliever, the Australia native initially signed with the Minnesota Twins as a non-drafted free agent in 2007. Originally selected by the Minnesota Twins in the second round of the 2014 MLB Draft, the Illinois native has pitched 33 career Major League games, compiling a 5.93 ERA (18 ER/27.1 IP) with stints at:
