BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:
- Selected left-handed pitcher Eduardo Rivera to the active Major League roster from Triple-A Worcester. He will wear number 99.
- Optioned right-handed pitcher Jack Anderson to Triple-A Worcester following last night’s game against the New York Yankees.
- Transferred first baseman Triston Casas to the 60-Day Injured List.
Rivera, 22, was promoted to Worcester yesterday after making two starts for Double-A Portland and going 1-0 with a 0.90 ERA (1 ER/10.0 IP), six hits, three walks, and 16 strikeouts. The left-hander in 2025 posted a 2.48 ERA (24 ER/87.0 IP), with a 1.16 WHIP, .177 opponent AVG (55-for-311), and 108 strikeouts in 20 games (15 starts) between High-A Greenville (10 games, six starts) and Double-A Portland (10 games, nine starts). Originally selected by the Athletics in the 11th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Puerto Rico native was signed by the Red Sox as a minor league free agent in June 2024 and owns a 3.69 ERA (91 ER/222.0 IP) with 271 strikeouts in 65 career minor league games (40 starts).
Anderson, 26, pitched 2.0 innings in last night’s game against the Yankees, allowing one run on four hits while striking out two batters. The right-hander has pitched in three games for Boston this year, his Major League debut, allowing three runs over 8.0 innings with two walks and six strikeouts. He has also made two starts for Worcester, going 1-0 with a 3.72 ERA (4 ER/9.2 IP), three walks and nine strikeouts. Originally selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 16th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, the Florida native was selected by the Red Sox in the Triple-A Phase of the 2024 Rule 5 Draft and owns a 4.20 ERA (132 ER/282.2 IP) with 288 strikeouts in 146 career minor league games (10 starts).
Casas, 26, was placed on the 10-Day Injured List on March 25 (retroactive to March 22) due to recovery from left patellar tendon repair surgery. The left-handed hitter missed 128 games in 2025, batting .182 (18-for-99) with three doubles, three home runs, and 11 RBI in 29 games for Boston. Selected by the Red Sox in the first round (26th overall) in the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Florida native has hit .241 (197-for-816) with 33 doubles, two triples, 45 home runs, and 120 RBI in 251 career games, all with Boston (2022-25).
