BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:

  • Reinstated shortstop Trevor Story from the 60-Day Injured List.
  • Optioned catcher/infielder Mickey Gasper to Triple-A Worcester.
  • Recalled right-handed pitcher Isaiah Campbell from Worcester and placed him on the 60-Day Injured List with right elbow inflammation.

Story, 31, started at shortstop in each of the Red Sox’ first eight games this season before being placed on the Injured List on April 6 with a left shoulder dislocation. The right-handed hitter appeared in four rehab games with Worcester, going 6-for-16 (.375) with a double while making three starts at shortstop and one as the designated hitter. Originally selected by the Colorado Rockies in Competitive Balance Round A of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, the two-time All-Star (2018-19) and two-time Silver Slugger Award recipient (2018-19) has hit .265 (892-for-3,368) with an .834 OPS, 177 home runs, and 124 stolen bases in 890 career games with the Rockies (2016-21) and Red Sox (2022-24).

Gasper, 28, has played in 10 games for Boston, his Major League debut, making three starts at second base. The switch-hitter has also played in 84 minor league games with Double-A Portland (44 games) and Worcester (40 games), batting .341 (95-for-279) with a 1.017 OPS. Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the 27th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the New Hampshire native was selected by Boston in the minor league phase of the 2023 Rule 5 Draft.

Campbell, 27, has pitched in eight games for the Red Sox, allowing 12 runs in 6.2 innings. The right-hander has also pitched in 14 games for Worcester, posting a 2.20 ERA (4 ER/16.1 IP). Originally selected by the Seattle Mariners in Competitive Balance Round B of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the Portugal native owns a 5.35 ERA (21 ER/35.1 IP) in 35 career Major League games with the Mariners (2023) and Red Sox (2024).
