Boston, MA – The Boston Fleet have officially re-signed forward Susanna Tapani to a one-year contract extension, securing the veteran center through the 2025–26 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) season.

Tapani, a native of Turku, Finland, was a key contributor during the 2024–25 campaign, skating in all 30 regular-season games and finishing third in team scoring with 18 points (11 goals, 7 assists). Her offensive impact included two game-winning goals and three shootout conversions—second-most in the league—two of which secured victories for the Fleet. She also led the team in faceoffs, taking 557 draws and winning 249 (44.7%).

Initially selected 25th overall (5th round) by Minnesota in the inaugural PWHL Draft, Tapani was acquired by Boston via trade midseason. She went on to record eight points (2G, 6A) across 17 games for the Fleet and added four points (3G, 1A) during the playoffs.

“Signing Susanna Tapani was a top priority for us,” said Fleet GM Danielle Marmer. “She’s one of the most dynamic two-way centers in the league. Her blend of speed, puck control, and finishing ability consistently shifts the momentum. She makes our team better every time she steps on the ice.”

A three-time Olympian with Team Finland, Tapani earned bronze medals at PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022, and has represented her country in 10 IIHF Women’s World Championships, earning seven medals including silver (2019) and six bronze (2011, 2015, 2017, 2021, 2024, 2025). She’s also a decorated athlete in ringette, with five world titles as part of Finland’s national team.

“Boston already feels like a second home,” said Tapani. “The fans, the organization, and this city have welcomed me with open arms. I’m beyond excited to be back for another season.”

Tapani joins a Fleet roster that includes seven other returning players for 2025–26: forwards Hannah Brandt, Alina Müller, Jamie Lee Rattray, Sophie Shirley, defenders Megan Keller, Daniela Pejšová, and goaltender Aerin Frankel.
