BOSTON, MA – The Boston Fleet have announced the signings of defenders Zoe Boyd and Rylind MacKinnon, along with goaltender Abbey Levy, to one-year Standard Player Agreements for the 2025–26 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) season.
ZOE BOYD | Defense
Boyd, 24, joins Boston following two seasons with the Ottawa Charge, where she recorded three assists in each campaign and appeared in all eight playoff games during the 2024–25 run. Originally selected 53rd overall in the inaugural PWHL Draft, the Caledon East, Ontario native brings reliable puck-moving ability and leadership to the Fleet’s defensive core.
“Zoe is a smart, physical defender who excels in transition and elevates the locker room,” said GM Danielle Marmer. “She has a special way of connecting with teammates and played impactful minutes during Ottawa’s playoff push. We’re thrilled she’s coming to Boston.”
Boyd played five NCAA seasons with Quinnipiac University, serving as co-captain and earning the program’s Coaches’ Award in 2022–23. Internationally, she earned bronze with Team Canada at the 2018 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship.
“I can’t wait to represent one of the greatest sports cities in the world,” said Boyd. “Joining the Fleet’s passionate community and talented roster is a true honor. See you soon, Beantown—Ahoy!”
RYLIND MACKINNON | Defense
MacKinnon, 25, enters her second PWHL season after breaking into the Toronto Sceptres lineup as a training camp invitee. She appeared in 22 regular season games as a rookie, contributing two assists and playing in one postseason contest.
“Rylind is a hard-nosed defender with size, strength, and a no-nonsense game,” said Marmer. “She makes it difficult for opponents around the net and has strong upside we’re excited to develop in Boston.”
The Cranbrook, British Columbia native played five seasons with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds, serving as captain for three years. She helped UBC to three consecutive Canada West titles and graduated as the program’s all-time leading scorer among defenders with 81 points.
“I’m excited to be part of the Fleet’s culture and play in a city with unmatched energy and tradition,” said MacKinnon. “I look forward to contributing on and off the ice.”
ABBEY LEVY | Goaltender
Levy, 25, returns to Boston after two seasons with the New York Sirens, where she was selected 64th overall in the inaugural draft. She has made 10 career appearances, including a memorable first win in a shootout against Montréal.
“Abbey’s calm, composed presence and technical skill give us depth and poise in net,” said Marmer. “As a Boston College alum, she already has roots here, and we’re excited to help her reach the next level in a familiar environment.”
Originally from Congers, New York, Levy played NCAA hockey at Minnesota State University before transferring to Boston College, where she earned the Bertagna Trophy as the top goalie in the 2022 Beanpot tournament. She posted 54 career wins, 16 shutouts, and a .931 save percentage. Levy won gold with Team USA at the 2023 IIHF Women’s World Championship.
“Boston has always felt like home,” said Levy. “I’m honored to rejoin the city and build on everything I’ve learned. I’m ready to give this team everything I’ve got.”
Boyd, MacKinnon, and Levy join a Fleet roster that includes 12 other signed players for the 2025–26 campaign, including new additions Chloé Aurard and Liz Schepers.
