The Celtics are the big dogs on the block and going against the Cavaliers shouldn’t be too much of a challenge in reality. They are a better team pretty much all around.
This is game 1 of a 7 game series in which the Celtics are heavy favorites. Boston is currently listed at -3000 odds (1/30) at online sportsbooks. So, the question is how will this series play out and what is the best way to bet it?
Game one has the Celtics favored by 11.5 points at sbaodds.com. Currently, 59% of tickets have been wagered on Boston as well as 61% of the handle. The public is leaning towards taking the heavy home favorites.
How We Got Here
Cleveland was able to squeak past a mediocre Orlando team and looked like they were done for at halftime in game 7 of that series. They caught fire in the second half and pulled out the impressive win.
Boston was actually favored to sweep the Miami Heat sans Jimmy Butler. However, Miami was able to win one of those games.
If you like Cleveland in this series it pays out at a hefty +1100 (11-1) purse. If you are feeling brave then go for it. However, we don’t see this scenario becoming a reality. Boston is just too good.
How it Will Play Out
Amazingly, Boston was 50-5 this season when they hit just 35%+ of their 3-point shots. This will not be a challenge in this series. The Cavs won’t be able to patrol the entire perimeter so look for a lot of clean shots from downtown.
We are never fans of taking a monstrous -3000 wager so we will instead be looking to bet the Celtics -1.5 games in the series at -390. They should be able to either sweep this series or win 4 games to 1. Every scenario we have run does not see Cleveland having much success against the best team in the NBA.
