NEW YORK – Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix and Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Beanie Bishop are the NFL Rookies of the Month for the month of October (Weeks 5-8).

OFFENSE: QB BO NIX, DENVER BRONCOS

  • Nix led all rookies in completion percentage (66.7 percent), passing yards (870) and touchdown passes (seven), ranked tied for first in rushing touchdowns (two) and ranked second in passer rating (102.7) in the month of October. Nix became the first Broncos rookie quarterback to win five games and with four touchdowns (three passing, one rushing) and a 124.2 passer rating in Week 8, became the fourth rookie quarterback with at least three touchdown passes, one rushing touchdown and a passer rating of 120-or-higher in a game since 2000, joining Justin Herbert (Jan. 3, 2021), Cam Newton (Dec. 24, 2011) and Deshaun Watson (Oct. 1, 2017).
  • Nix becomes the third Broncos player to win Offensive Rookie of the Month, joining Mike Anderson (September & December, 2000) and Clinton Portis (October, 2002), and the first since 2002.
  • Nix is the third former Oregon quarterback to win Rookie of the Month, joining Justin Herbert (October & November, 2020) and Marcus Mariota (September, 2015).

DEFENSE: CB BEANIE BISHOP, PITTSBURGH STEELERS

  • Bishop tied for the league-lead with three interceptions, ranked second among rookies with five passes defensed and had 16 tackles, including two tackles for loss, in the month of October. He was only player in the NFL with at least 15 tackles, three interceptions and a tackle for loss in Weeks 5-8.
  • Bishop becomes the fifth Steeler to win Rookie of the Month and the second Pittsburgh defensive player to earn the honor, joining Kendrell Bell (October & November, 2001).
  • Bishop becomes the first former West Virginia player to win Defensive Rookie of the Month and the second Mountaineer overall to earn the honor, joining Steve Slaton (December, 2008).
