VANCOUVER – The BC Lions have bolstered their defensive front with the signing of American defensive lineman Levi Bell, the team announced Thursday.

Bell, a native of Cedar Park, Texas, spent the 2023 season with the UFL’s Michigan Panthers before joining the Seattle Seahawks for training camp and preseason action. He recorded 10 tackles and a sack with Seattle, later spending the remainder of the season on their practice squad.

In 2024, Bell attended training camp with the Indianapolis Colts but was released during final roster cuts.

“Levi brings high energy and proven pass-rushing ability,” said Lions general manager Ryan Rigmaiden. “He’s the kind of player who fits our culture both on the field and off. We expect him to make an impact right away.”

Bell’s collegiate journey began at the College of Idaho (NAIA) in 2018, followed by a season at Tyler Junior College. He then transferred to Louisiana Tech, where he posted 27 tackles, four sacks, and a fumble recovery over 13 games. In 2022, Bell capped his college career at Texas State-San Marcos, earning All-Sun Belt Second Team and PFF First Team honors with 66 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, and seven quarterback hurries. Pro Football Focus rated him the third-best defensive player in the nation that season.

The Lions continue to build momentum heading into OK Tire Labour Day Weekend, with Bell expected to contribute immediately to a defense looking to make a statement.
