A’s reinstate OF/DH Rooker from IL; option INF Hernaiz to Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s reinstated outfielder/designated hitter Brent Rooker from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder Darell Hernaiz to Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Rooker was 6-for-30 (.200) with two home runs and five RBI in eight games when he was placed on the 10-day IL April 11 retroactive to April 8 with a costochondral cartilage injury. He has started six games at designated hitter and two in right field. Rooker did not have a rehab assignment.

Hernaiz was on the A’s Opening Day roster and batted .103 with two RBI in 17 games in his Major League debut. He started five games at third base and five at shortstop.
