OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s placed right-handed pitcher Paul Blackburn on the 10-day injured list retroactive to May 11 with a stress reaction of the fifth metatarsal of his right foot and recalled left-handed pitcher Easton Lucas from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Blackburn was on the A’s Opening Day roster and was 3-2 with a 4.11 ERA and .678 opponents OPS in eight starts. He went 1-0 and did not allow a run over his first three starts, but is 2-2 with a 7.09 ERA in five starts since then.

Lucas joins the A’s for the second time this year. He was selected last Wednesday and allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six in 2.1 innings over two appearances before he was optioned to Las Vegas on Saturday. The 27-year-old left-hander did not pitch following his option and is 2-0 with a 2.87 ERA and .699 opponents OPS in 11 games, including one start, with the Aviators. He has held the opposition to a .211 batting average but has walked eight in 15.2 innings for a .313 on-base percentage.
