Provided below are select quotes from “America’s Game: 2023 Kansas City Chiefs”:

  • “It’s fun going to work when it’s the biggest game. Don’t try to make it more serious or make it more than what it is – it’s still football. We got here because we showed our personalities and we are who we are, and we also did that while we put in the work.” – Travis Kelce on playing in Super Bowl LVIII
  • “I became aware of her being at the game that week[Travis Kelce] said she was thinking about coming and being at the game…He’s a guy that is full of life, and loves to go out there and enjoy it. That’s why it didn’t surprise anybody on the team; people act like it was a distraction and I was like ‘No, this is just Travis, that’s how he always is.'” – Patrick Mahomes on Taylor Swift attending the Chiefs’ Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears
  • They’ve worked a lot of snaps together but there is a certain chemistry I’ve seen over the years when you get a quarterback and a player like that where they just connectIt’s hard to explain other than there is a trust that I know this guy is going to be where I want him to be or need him to be, and whatever chaotic situation that’s placed upon you during those quick five seconds of a play.” – Andy Reid on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce
  • “I told [Las Vegas Raiders] coach [Antonio] Pierce I appreciate you kicking our tail because it kind of woke us upSometimes you need to get your tail kicked to figure it out.” – Andy Reid on losing to the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day
  • “We don’t think our defensive coordinator gets talked about as much as he should…The most dominant piece is Spags.” – Chris Jones on Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo
  • “They scored off a trick playThis is their best football; if that’s what they’re giving us and that’s what they have to score on, for four quarters you’re not going to do that.” – Chris Jones on falling behind 10-0 in Super Bowl LVIII to the San Francisco 49ers
  • “When that momentum starts going in our favor, I want them to call the plays fastIt’s kind of like when a basketball team goes on a run and the other team has to call a timeout, you want to put the pressure on them.” – Patrick Mahomes
  • “There’s a certain sense of urgency and focus that I thrive in. I love that feeling of we have to have it right now.” – Travis Kelce
