Michigan iGaming and Online Sports Betting Revenue Climbs Nearly 10% in August

Michigan’s commercial and tribal internet gaming operators generated $312.54 million in gross receipts from iGaming and online sports betting in August, marking a 9.8% increase over July.

Monthly Gross Receipts

  • iGaming: $263.27 million (up from $250.5 million in July)
  • Sports betting: $49.27 million (up from $34.1 million in July)

Adjusted Gross Receipts (AGR)

Combined AGR for August reached $281.4 million, broken down as:

  • iGaming AGR: $247.2 million (+5.1% month-over-month, +39.8% year-over-year)
  • Sports betting AGR: $34.2 million (+43.1% month-over-month, +$17.9 million vs. August 2024)

Sports Betting Handle

The total online sports betting handle hit $338.9 million, a 19.9% increase from July’s $282.7 million.

State Taxes and Payments

Operators submitted $53.7 million in state taxes and fees during August, including:

  • iGaming: $51.6 million
  • Sports betting: $2.1 million

City of Detroit Taxes and Payments

Detroit’s three commercial casinos contributed $13.8 million in wagering taxes and municipal service fees:

  • iGaming: $13.2 million
  • Sports betting: $561,471

Tribal Operator Payments

Michigan’s tribal operators reported $6.2 million in payments to their respective governing bodies.
