Arlington, TX – Ahead of tonight’s series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies at Globe Life Field, the Texas Rangers have made the following roster moves:
- Activated INF Jake Burger from the 10-day Injured List
- Optioned OF Alejandro Osuna to Triple-A Round Rock
Burger, 29, returns to the active roster after missing 20 games due to a left quad strain sustained July 11 in Houston. During his rehab assignment from August 2–7, he appeared in five games between Double-A Frisco (2 games) and Triple-A Round Rock (3 games), going 8-for-21 (.381) with one home run, four doubles, six RBIs, and four runs scored. In his final rehab outing yesterday at Albuquerque, Burger delivered a standout performance, going 4-for-6 with a homer, a double, four RBIs, and two runs while playing eight innings at first base.
In 75 games this season across two stints with Texas (Opening Day–May 1, May 12–present), Burger is hitting .228/.259/.401 with 11 home runs, 14 doubles, 35 RBIs, and 33 runs scored. He leads the team with 67 starts at first base. Acquired from Miami in a December 11, 2024 trade, the St. Louis native is in his first season with the Rangers. Over five MLB seasons with the White Sox (2021–23), Marlins (2023–24), and Rangers (2025), Burger owns a career .247 average with 83 home runs, 220 RBIs, and a .766 OPS in 419 games.
Osuna, 22, went 1-for-9 with a walk in five games (three starts) during his latest stint with the Rangers from August 2–6. He made his MLB debut on May 25 at Chicago-AL and has appeared in 34 games this season, batting .158 (12-for-76) with one home run, one double, five RBIs, and 13 walks. In the minors, Osuna has posted a .273 average and .772 OPS across 49 games split between Double-A Frisco (37 games) and Triple-A Round Rock (12 games).
Following today’s moves, the Rangers remain at the 40-man roster limit, with three players—Cody Bradford, Tyler Mahle, and Josh Sborz—currently on the 60-day Injured List.
