West Sacramento, CA – The Texas Rangers have announced the following roster moves ahead of Thursday night’s game against the Oakland Athletics at Sutter Health Park:
- RHP Kumar Rocker has been placed on the 15-day Injured List due to a right shoulder impingement.
- RHP Gerson Garabito has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to fill the roster spot.
Rocker, 25, has struggled in 2025, posting a 1-3 record with an 8.10 ERA (18 earned runs over 20 innings) in five starts. His last outing came on Wednesday night against the Athletics, where he took the loss after pitching only 1.2 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, with one walk and two strikeouts. Over eight career Major League starts, Rocker has recorded a 1-5 record and a 6.54 ERA, with opponents batting .316 against him.
Garabito, 29, is returning to the Rangers for his second stint of the season. After being optioned to Triple-A on April 8, he made two starts for Round Rock, allowing nine earned runs in 5.1 innings for a 15.19 ERA. His last minor league appearance came on April 18 in Reno, where he took the loss after surrendering five runs in 2.2 innings. A member of Texas’ Opening Day roster, Garabito has pitched in three relief appearances for the Rangers this season, logging 8.0 innings with a 9.00 ERA. His most recent Major League appearance was on April 7 against the Cubs, where he allowed four runs over 3.1 innings.
A native of San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, Garabito made his MLB debut with Texas in 2024 and has accumulated a 0-2 record with a 5.77 ERA in 21 career appearances (two starts). Before joining the Rangers, Garabito spent three seasons playing in various Winter Leagues while being unsigned by affiliated baseball. He began his professional career in 2012, signing with the Kansas City Royals as a non-drafted free agent, and has also had minor league stints with San Francisco and Texas.
With these transactions, the Rangers remain at their 40-man roster limit, along with three players (Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Josh Sborz) currently on the 60-day Injured List.
