The North Carolina State Lottery Commission has released its sports wagering revenue report for December 2024, compiled from submissions by the eight licensed interactive sports betting operators in the state.

Between December 1 and December 31, account holders in North Carolina wagered a total of $629,520,784 on sports events, including both paid and promotional wagers. From these wagers, account holders won $590,889,744.

State law imposes an 18% tax on the gross wagering revenue generated by sports betting activities. Gross wagering revenue is defined as the total amounts received from sports wagers minus the amounts paid out as winnings, before any deductions for expenses, fees, or taxes.

For December, the gross wagering revenue was $35,717,877. Applying an 18% tax rate, the estimated tax proceeds for the month amount to $6,429,218. This is the amount collected by the N.C. Department of Revenue from sports wagering activities.
