NBA Preview: Chicago Bulls (0-1) vs Milwaukee Bucks (1-0)

Central Division rivals clash on Friday as the Milwaukee Bucks host the Chicago Bulls, each with different expectations for their seasons. The Bucks are eyeing another playoff run, hoping to extend their streak to nine consecutive seasons. They also aim to avoid a third straight first-round exit.

Milwaukee started strong with a 124-109 victory over an undermanned Philadelphia 76ers team in their opener. Damian Lillard led with 30 points, and Giannis Antetokounmpo added 25 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists. Antetokounmpo, returning from a calf injury that sidelined him for the last nine games of the previous season, is still getting back into form.

The Bucks were without Khris Middleton (ankle) in their opener, but Coach Doc Rivers considers him day-to-day. In Middleton’s absence, Taurean Prince stepped up, scoring 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting in his team debut.

The Bulls, dealing with their own injury challenges, welcomed back Zach LaVine, who played just 25 games last season due to a foot injury. LaVine led with 27 points in the Bulls’ 123-111 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans in their opener. Lonzo Ball also returned, playing his first regular-season game since January 2022 and contributing five points and four assists off the bench.

The Bulls are projected to be in a rebuild phase, with expectations set at around 37 wins. They have had only one winning season and playoff appearance since 2017.  This matchup will be a test for both teams as they navigate their early season challenges.
