CFB-D2: Northeast 10 Conference (NE10) Week 2 Release and Previews

BIG IN THE POST
Post WR Josh Tracey made a huge splash in his first game in the NE10.  The UCONN transfer turned heads with a 95-yard KOR for a touchdown (1 of 5 KOR TD’s in DII this season) during Post’s Week 0 win.  The longest KOR TD this season is 98 yards (by three different players).
 
Tracey ranks No. 2 in DII in all-purpose yards per game at 311 and 19th in receiving at 163 yards. 
 
As a team Post leads Division II at 31.17 yards per completion.
 
STINGING DEFENSE
AIC held Shippensburg to just three points last week, giving Dan Chipka his first win as head coach in Springfield.  The Jackets rank 19th nationally in passing defense, 9th in run defense (37 yards) and 9th in total defense after their first game.
 
IN THE BACKFIELD
Saint Anselm and Assumption both broke the line in Week 1.  The two teams each racked up nine TFL’s – ranking 15th in the nation.  Hawks DL Matt Smith recorded three TFL’s.  Only five players made more tackles behind the line across DII this year.
 
LEVELING UP
Franklin Pierce nearly picked up a Division I win during week 1, leading at Bryant with 4:03 left to play, 17-14.  The Ravens were great in the air, ranking 23rd in DII in passing after one week.  FPU put up 268 yards in the air, including a 53-yard TD to Jahmir Dixon in the third quarter.
 
The Ravens final drive of the game stalled at midfield on downs after Bryant scored the eventual game-winning touchdown.
