New York Yankees acquire RHP Enyel De Los Santos and RHP Thomas Balboni Jr.

The New York Yankees today announced that they have acquired right-handed pitcher Enyel De Los Santos and minor league right-handed pitcher Thomas Balboni Jr. from the San Diego Padres in exchange for minor league outfielder Brandon Lockridge.

De Los Santos, 28, has gone 1-2 with one save and a 4.46 ERA (40.1IP, 39H, 21R/20ER, 13BB, 48K, 11HR) in 44 relief appearances this season with the Padres. He has posted a 10.71 strikeouts per 9.0 innings ratio and a 28.2% strikeout rate (48K/170BF) this season.

Over parts of six Major League seasons (2018-19, ’21-24) with Philadelphia (2018-19, ‘21), Pittsburgh (2021), Cleveland (2022-23) and San Diego (2024), he has gone 14-6 with two saves and a 4.25 ERA (224.2IP, 204H, 116R/106ER, 86BB, 243K, 32HR) in 209 games (three starts). The San Pedro de Macoris, D.R., native was originally signed by Seattle as a non-drafted free agent on July 17, 2014.

Balboni Jr., 24, has gone 4-1 with two saves and a 4.46 ERA (34.1IP, 29H, 19R/17ER, 20BB, 60K, 1HR) in 30 relief appearances this season with Single-A Lake Elsinore. Over parts of two minor league seasons in the Padres organization (2023-24), the right-handed pitcher has gone 6-4 with two saves and a 5.96 ERA (77.0IP, 74H, 55R/51ER, 38BB, 106K, 4HR) in 53 games (two starts). The Boston, Mass., native was originally selected by San Diego in the 15th round of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft out of Northeastern University (Mass.).

Lockridge, 27, has hit .295 (64-for-217) with 37R, 15 doubles, 2 triples, 32RBI, 39BB, 1HP and 34SB in 72 games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2024. Over parts of six minor league seasons in the Yankees organization (2018-19, ’21-24), the outfielder has batted .267/.343/.416 (479-for-1,793) with 280R, 103 doubles, 17 triples, 43HR, 219RBI, 190BB and 135SB in 494 career games. The Pensacola, Fla., native was originally selected by the Yankees in the fifth round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Troy University (Ala.).
