Four rounds of #NHLStats as the Avalanche seek their fourth Stanley Cup and second in three years:

* The Avalanche are headed to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the seventh straight season, tying the second longest run in franchise historyNathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen have played in all 70 games for Colorado during its streak and have factored on the same playoff goal 42 times – the most of any duo in franchise history and second most in the NHL since 2018 behind Lightning teammates Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point (45).

Cale Makar is the franchise leader in playoff assists among defensemen and needs one point and three goals to surpass Sandis Ozolinsh for those club records among blueliners. Makar also ranks among the top 10 in franchise history for career playoff assists and points by any skater, as do Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen (who also rank among the top six in goals).

Cale Makar’s 1.07 points-per-game rate ranks second in NHL history among defensemen (min. 30 GP) behind Bobby Orr (1.24), while Nathan MacKinnon (1.30) and Mikko Rantanen (1.24) both rank among the top seven among all skaters with at least 50 games played, though two Oilers forwards are knocking on that door.

* The Avalanche carry 13 Stanley Cup winners on their roster – second most behind Vegas – but also have in-season acquisitions in search of their first title including Zach Parise, a veteran of more than 1,300 total NHL games, and Casey Mittelstadt, who is set to make his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut in his seventh season.

More #NHLStats
* Two of the past three Stanley Cup-clinching goals have been scored by players on Colorado’s roster: Artturi Lehkonen in 2022 and Ross Colton in 2021. Lehkonen has four career series-clinching goals, tops among active players and two back of the all-time record shared by Mike Bossy (6) and Ken Linseman (6).

Mikko Rantanen (30-57—87) needs one point to tie Teemu Selanne (44-44—88) for third most in playoff history by a Finnish-born player behind Jari Kurri (106-127—233) and Esa Tikkanen (72-60—132); he trails only Kurri, Valtteri Filppula (61) and Tikkanen for most assists. Kurri, Tikkanen, Selanne and Tomas Sandstrom (32) are the only Finnish-born players with more playoff goals than Rantanen (but Sandstrom is a Swedish national).

Cale Makar can become the 10th active player to lead any franchise in career playoff goals, assists and points among defensemen.
