Groshans made his Major League debut in 2022, hitting .262 (16-for-61) with 9R, 1HR, 2RBI and 4BB in 17 games with the Marlins. Defensively, he started all 17 games of his Major League career at third base. Over parts of five minor league seasons in the Blue Jays (2018-19, ’21-22) and Marlins (2022-23) organizations, Groshans has batted .271 (374-for-1,379) with 185R, 78 doubles, 1 triple, 23HR, 190RBI, 183BB and 4SB in 374 games.

The Magnolia, Tex., native was originally selected by Toronto in the first round (12th overall) of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft. Groshans was acquired by Miami from Toronto in exchange for RHP Anthony Bass, RHP Zach Pop and a player to be named later (C Edward Duran) on August 2, 2022. He was designated for assignment by Miami on February 6, 2024.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Yankees designated LHP Matt Krook for assignment.
