MIAMI — The Miami Marlins added a power arm and two ascending position‑player prospects Monday, acquiring right‑handed reliever Brandan Bidois, infielder Hyun Seung Lee, and outfielder Brian Sánchez from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for right‑hander Lake Bachar. The move delivers Miami a high‑ceiling bullpen piece and two young hitters showing strong developmental momentum.
Bidois Brings Elite Minor League Track Record and Recent MLB Debut
Bidois, 25, made his major league debut May 13 at Colorado and has appeared in 15 games for Pittsburgh this season, posting a 6.32 ERA, 20 strikeouts, and 12 walks across 15.2 innings. He has also pitched in 19 games for Triple‑A Indianapolis, going 4–2 with 26 strikeouts in 20 innings.
Despite uneven 2026 results, Bidois remains one of the Pirates’ most intriguing relief arms. The Brisbane, Australia native was named the 2025 Kent Tekulve Reliever of the Year, delivering one of the most dominant minor league seasons in recent memory: an 8–0 record, seven saves, 0.74 ERA, 67 strikeouts, and a .110 opponents’ average across 40 appearances. His 0.74 ERA was the lowest in all of Minor League Baseball among relievers with at least 60 innings.
Across five minor league seasons, Bidois owns a 2.89 ERA, 187 strikeouts, and 111 appearances.
Lee Provides Advanced Bat-to-Ball Skills and Early Power Production
Lee, 18, has been one of the Pirates’ most productive young hitters in his first stateside season. Across 50 games between the FCL Pirates and Single‑A Bradenton, he is batting .264/.363/.471 with 46 hits, 40 RBI, six home runs, and a .965 OPS in the Florida Complex League.
Signed out of Seoul, South Korea in January 2025, Lee has split time defensively between third base and shortstop. Last season in the Dominican Summer League, he led his club in walks (38) and stole 17 bases in 21 attempts.
Sánchez Adds Athleticism and Extra-Base Ability to Miami’s System
Sánchez, 22, has been a steady contributor at High‑A Greensboro, hitting .254/.340/.431 with 17 doubles, nine home runs, 40 RBI, and 53 runs across 93 games. The 6‑foot‑3 outfielder was acquired by Pittsburgh from the Yankees in July 2025 but missed the remainder of that season due to injury.
Across four minor league seasons with the Pirates, Yankees, and Brewers organizations, Sánchez owns a .279/.372/.453 career slash line with 56 doubles, 16 triples, 17 home runs, and 127 RBI.
Bachar Heads to Pittsburgh After Three Steady Seasons in Miami Bullpen
Bachar, 31, has been a reliable multi‑inning option for Miami, posting a 1–2 record, 3.84 ERA, 61 strikeouts, and two saves across 38 appearances this season. Over three seasons with the Marlins (2024–26), he compiled a 9–5 record, 3.88 ERA, and 101 appearances.
Originally drafted by San Diego in the fifth round in 2016, Bachar joined Miami via waivers in September 2024.
The trade gives Miami a high‑octane relief arm with elite minor league pedigree and two promising young hitters, while Pittsburgh adds a durable, versatile right-hander capable of contributing immediately at the major league level.
