Los Angeles Dodgers Activate Evan Phillips

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated right-handed pitcher Evan Phillips and optioned right-handed pitcher Paul Gervase. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers released left-handed pitcher Jake Eder.

Phillips, 31, has been out since May 7, 2025, recovering from Tommy John surgery. He made seven appearances last season, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts. He made 12 minor league rehab appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City this year, striking out 13 batters in 10.0 innings with a 1.80 ERA. He enters his ninth Major League season with stops with the Atlanta Braves (2018), Baltimore Orioles (2018-20), Tampa Bay Rays (2021) and Los Angeles (2021-), and he is 16-12 with a 3.36 ERA in 250 games. He signed a one-year deal with the Dodgers on February 11.

Gervase, 26, pitched yesterday, throwing two scoreless innings with two strikeouts. He has appeared in 10 Major League games in his career, posting a 3.38 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 16.0 innings. With Triple-A Oklahoma City, he is 2-0 with a 3.60 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 25.0 innings. The 6-foot, 10-inch hurler was drafted by the New York Mets in the 12th round of the 2022 First Year Player Draft out of Louisiana State University.
