BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today announced the following changes to their 2026 Major League coaching staff:

  • Nelson Paulino has been named Interim Hitting Coach.
  • Drew Ehrhard will serve as Interim Bullpen Catcher.

Paulino, 53, is in his 29th season with the Red Sox organization. He has served as Single-A Salem’s hitting coach since 2021, his third stint with Salem after also serving as a hitting coach in 2013 and from 2016-18. The Dominican Republic native was High-A Greenville’s hitting coach from 2014-15 and in 2019. He joined the organization as a scout from 1998-2000 and held roles with the Dominican Summer League Red Sox as a hitting coach (2001-02, 2008-11), manager (2003-06), and bench coach (2007). Paulino was also a hitting coach for Single-A Lowell in 2012. He played four minor league seasons as an infielder in the Atlanta Braves farm system from 1991-94.

Ehrhard, 27, was signed by the Red Sox as a non-drafted free agent in July 2023 and hit .233 (75-for-104) in 322 career minor league games. The Florida native played in 11 games for Double-A Portland this season before retiring from playing.
