The New York Yankees today announced that they have acquired right-handed pitcher JT Brubaker and international signing bonus money from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for a player to be named later.
Brubaker, 30, did not pitch last season after undergoing “Tommy John” surgery on April 12, 2023. He was placed on the 60-day injured list during spring training on February 19, 2024.
In his last full season in 2022, Brubaker went 3-12 with a 4.69 ERA (144.0IP, 157H, 85R/75ER, 54BB, 147K, 17HR) in 28 starts with Pittsburgh. Brubaker posted career highs in starts, innings pitched and strikeouts. Over parts of three Major League seasons with Pittsburgh (2020-22), he has gone 9-28 with a 4.99 ERA (315.2IP, 328H, 187R/175ER, 109BB, 324K, 51HR) in 63 games (61 starts).
The Springfield, Ohio, native was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the sixth round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Akron.
