WNBA Preview: Connecticut Sun (11-1) vs Dallas Wings (3-8)

The Connecticut Sun look to continue their best start in franchise history when they battle the slumping Dallas Wings on Saturday afternoon in Arlington, Texas.

The Sun (11-1) head south for their third game in a six-day stretch after an 83-75 win at Chicago on Wednesday. It was the Sun’s second victory over the Sky in 2024 and second straight triumph after their only loss of the season.

Alyssa Thomas recorded 20 points, seven rebounds and a season-high six steals for the Sun. Brionna Jones scored 18 points, DeWanna Bonner added 16 and Tyasha Harris had 13. Connecticut repelled a late Chicago run that cut a 13-point, fourth-quarter lead into a four-point margin with 28.2 seconds remaining.

The Sun made just 3 of 14 shots from beyond the arc in the victory.

The Wings (3-8) are on a six-game skid, with the latest setback a 92-84 setback at home to Seattle on Thursday. Dallas, which has been without injured forward Satou Sabally all season and Natasha Howard for all but the opening game, continues to get solid play from Arike Ogunbowale.

On Thursday, Ogunbowale led all scorers with 24 points, marking the 11th straight game that she’s been the top point producer for the Wings. She stretched her own WNBA record for most 20-point games in a row to open a season.

Teaira McCowan added 19 points and 10 rebounds against Seattle but most of her contributions were early in the game. Maddy Siegrist hit for 16 points and Monique Billings had 10 for Dallas.

The Sun captured the first meeting of the year between the teams, a 74-72 decision at home on May 31.
