CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s game vs. Houston, the Chicago White Sox reinstated right-handed pitcher Vince Velasquez from the 15-day injured list and optioned right-hander Matt Foster to Class AAA Charlotte.
Velasquez, 30, was placed on the injured list on July 6 with a blister on his right index finger. He made four relief appearances with Charlotte on an injury rehabilitation assignment, allowing three runs over 5.2 IP. Velasquez is 3-3 with a 5.21 ERA (27 ER/46.2 IP) and 42 strikeouts in 14 games (eight starts) this season, his first with the White Sox.
Foster, 27, is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA (22 ER/44.0 IP), 40 strikeouts, one save and five holds over 47 appearances this season, his third with the Sox.
