The Kent State women’s basketball team notched the third highest-scoring game in program history with a 113-54 victory over Walsh at the M.A.C. Center on Thursday night.
The Golden Flashes (1-1) shot an impressive 57.3% from the floor, marking their highest point total since scoring 119 against UNC Greensboro on December 29, 1993.
All nine players who took the court made multiple field goals. Sophomore Mya Babbitt led all scorers with a career-high 20 points, hitting five three-pointers. Freshman Journey Hildebrand (19), redshirt junior Kaley Perkins (13), senior Bianca Juzzo (12), and freshman Meghan Murray (7) also achieved career-high scoring performances. Murray dished out a career-high seven assists as well.
Kent State dominated the boards with a 61-21 rebounding advantage. Senior Bridget Dunn led with 12 rebounds, while sophomore Riley Rismiller followed closely with a career-high 10 rebounds and 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting for her first double-double. Babbitt added a career-high eight rebounds.
Senior Jenna Batsch contributed 15 points and five assists, matching her career high.
The Golden Flashes will hit the road next week for their first away games of the season, facing ninth-ranked NC State on November 14 and Elon on November 16.
