The Texas Rangers have announced a pair of roster moves ahead of Thursday night’s series opener against the Houston Astros at Globe Life Field:
- Right-handed pitcher Cole Winn has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.
- Right-handed pitcher Caleb Boushley has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.
Cole Winn’s Dominant Triple-A Season
Winn, 25, has been lights-out for Triple-A Round Rock, earning Rangers Minor League Reliever of the Month honors for April. Across 12 relief appearances, he has yet to allow an earned run in 23.1 innings, compiling:
- 3-0 record
- 0.94 WHIP
- .147 opponent batting average (11-for-75)
- 20 strikeouts and 11 walks
Winn has logged 2.0+ innings in eight of his outings, including season-high 3.0-inning performances on April 11 (vs. Oklahoma City) and April 19 (at Reno). In May, he has allowed just one hit across four appearances (5.2 IP, 1 R, 0 ER), last pitching on Sunday at El Paso (1.0 IP, 12 pitches, 9 strikes).
A first-round pick (15th overall) by Texas in 2018 out of Orange Lutheran High School (California), Winn debuted for the Rangers on April 14, 2024, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings against Houston. In 13 MLB appearances last season, he posted a 7.79 ERA (15 ER/17.1 IP) with 14 strikeouts and 4 walks. Notably, Winn did not allow a hit over his first five Major League outings (7.0 IP, 0-for-21 by opponents)—the longest hitless start to a career by a Rangers pitcher since 1974.
Over 118 career minor league games (80 starts) since 2019, Winn holds a 29-25 record with a 5.02 ERA (232 ER/416.1 IP), 432 strikeouts, and a .234 opponent batting average.
Caleb Boushley’s Season Recap
Boushley, 31, has appeared in six relief outings for Texas this season, compiling:
- 4.50 ERA (6 ER/12.0 IP)
- 12 strikeouts, 3 walks
The right-hander pitched on Wednesday night vs. Colorado, delivering 2.1 scoreless innings (3 H, 1 BB, 4 K, 49 pitches, 29 strikes). Boushley has made nine career MLB relief appearances across three seasons (Milwaukee – 2023, Minnesota – 2024, Texas – 2025), posting a 4.42 ERA (9 ER/18.1 IP).
Signed by Texas on November 15, 2024, the Wisconsin native returns to Round Rock, where he will rejoin the Express bullpen.
Roster Outlook
With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man roster limit, while three players (Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Josh Sborz) remain on the 60-day Injured List.
