The General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) has issued fines totaling EUR 77.4 million ($87.5 million) against 14 unlicensed gambling operators in its latest crackdown on illegal gaming activities.

Regulatory Action Against Unlicensed Operators

According to the announcement, the affected companies were penalized for offering gambling services to Spanish players without a valid license. Fines ranged from EUR 5 million to EUR 10 million, with the higher penalty applied to a single operator due to more severe violations.

The sanctioned companies include:

  • Adonio
  • Chestoption
  • FGS Software
  • Group Gaem
  • Investan
  • Lama Tech
  • Magicwin Games Tech
  • Mibs
  • Pennytech
  • Spicyjactpos
  • Techsolutions
  • Tinietech
  • Winbet
  • Wot

In addition to financial penalties, these 14 operators are banned from participating in Spain’s iGaming market for two years.

Continued Enforcement of Gaming Regulations

A DGOJ spokesperson emphasized that the sanctions align with the regulator’s ongoing efforts to protect the integrity of Spain’s gambling industry. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to strict oversight, consumer protection, and ensuring compliance across the gaming sector.

“This enforcement action demonstrates our dedication to preserving a fair and regulated gambling landscape,” the spokesperson stated. “We will continue to take decisive measures against those who pose risks to Spanish players.”

Spain’s Growing iGaming Market

The penalties come amid a record-breaking period for Spain’s online gambling sector. In 2024, the country’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) reached EUR 1.45 billion, reflecting significant growth for licensed operators.

Recognizing the increased risks of money laundering and illicit activity, the DGOJ hosted an anti-money laundering (AML) meeting in January, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss regulatory advancements. Additionally, in March, the agency warned about the rising threat of identity theft in online gambling and recommended adopting the PACS protocol to enhance security.

Spain’s regulatory body remains steadfast in preventing illegal gambling and ensuring that all operators meet the necessary compliance standards.
