Fifth BC casino acquired from Great Canadian Entertainment as operator continues divestment strategy

The Snuneymuxw First Nation has added another major property to its growing gaming portfolio with the acquisition of Great Canadian Casino Vancouver in Coquitlam. The purchase was made through Petroglyph Development Group (PDG), the Nation’s wholly owned economic development corporation, marking the fifth British Columbia casino PDG has acquired from Great Canadian Entertainment.

Fifth Major BC Casino Acquisition

The Casino Vancouver deal follows previous PDG purchases of:

  • Casino Nanaimo
  • Elements Casino Victoria
  • River Rock Casino Resort
  • Chances Maple Ridge

In 2025, Great Canadian Entertainment also sold Elements Casino Chilliwack to Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe Management Ltd. and Hastings Casino in Vancouver to the Tsleil‑Waututh Nation, continuing a year marked by significant divestments across the province.

The confidence placed in us by Great Canadian Entertainment and the industry is grounded in our disciplined approach to sustainable growth,” said Xum’silum, Snuneymuxw First Nation Chief Mike Wyse. “This acquisition represents another step toward economic self‑determination for Snuneymuxw, strengthening our long‑term prosperity, financial independence, and restoring an economy that thrived for thousands of years.

A Major Gaming Destination

Casino Vancouver is one of the largest gaming facilities in British Columbia, featuring:

  • 917 slot machines
  • 37 table games
  • 42 electronic tables for poker and blackjack
  • The 1,050‑seat Show Theatre
  • Multiple dining venues, including Match Eatery and a food hall
