Seattle Mariners Select RHP Casey Lawrence, Recall INF Leo Rivas from Triple-A Tacoma

RHP Jesse Hahn designated for assignment; INF Ryan Bliss placed on 10-day Injured List

SEATTLE, Wash. — The Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations, Justin Hollander, announced the following roster moves ahead of today’s game:

RHP Casey Lawrence (#41): Selected from Triple-A Tacoma.

INF Leo Rivas: Recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.

RHP Jesse Hahn: Designated for assignment.

INF Ryan Bliss: Placed on the 10-day injured list with a left biceps tear.

With these moves, the Mariners’ 40-man roster remains at full capacity with 40 players.

Player Details

Casey Lawrence (RHP)

Lawrence, 37, has made two starts for Triple-A Tacoma this season, posting a 4.35 ERA (5 earned runs in 10.1 innings pitched) with three walks and eight strikeouts. His last appearance came on April 4 against Reno.

The 6-foot right-hander has pitched across four Major League seasons with Toronto (2017, 2022), Seattle (2017–18), and St. Louis (2023). Over 124 innings in his MLB career, Lawrence has a 4–4 record, a 6.75 ERA, 49 walks, and 97 strikeouts. When he appears for the Mariners this season, he will become the 55th player in franchise history to have multiple stints with the team.

Leo Rivas (INF)

Rivas, 27, is off to a hot start in 2025, batting .368 (7-for-19) with two doubles, two home runs, six RBIs, and a 1.237 OPS over six games with Triple-A Tacoma. He has reached base safely in every game so far this season. Although previously recalled from April 1 to April 3, Rivas did not see any action during that stint with the Major League club.

The 5-foot-8, 150-pound switch-hitter made his MLB debut on April 28, 2024, becoming just the fourth player in Mariners history to triple in his first career plate appearance. In 43 games for Seattle last season, Rivas hit .233 (17-for-73) with a double, triple, eight RBIs, two stolen bases, and 10 walks. Rivas has 10 minor league seasons under his belt across the Angels, Reds, and Mariners organizations, posting a career .255 batting average, .382 on-base percentage, and .745 OPS.

Jesse Hahn (RHP)

Hahn, 35, took the loss in last night’s game, throwing 2.0 innings while allowing one unearned run with three intentional walks and two strikeouts. In his current stint with the Mariners, Hahn has pitched 4.0 innings in relief, giving up one run with four walks and three strikeouts.

After battling injuries, Hahn returned to the Major Leagues on April 5, 2025, making his first appearance since April 11, 2021. Signed to a minor league deal with Seattle in November 2024, the 6-foot-5 right-hander has previously played for San Diego, Oakland, and Kansas City. Across 82 MLB games (50 starts), Hahn has a 19–21 record, four saves, and a 4.22 ERA over 311.1 innings pitched.

Ryan Bliss (INF)

Bliss, 25, has hit .200 (7-for-35) with one run, one double, one home run, three RBIs, and two stolen bases in 11 games this season. The 5-foot-7 infielder debuted in 2024 and appeared in 33 games, batting .222 (14-for-63) with 10 runs scored, three doubles, one triple, two home runs, nine RBIs, and five stolen bases.

Bliss joined the Mariners as part of the trade that sent reliever Paul Sewald to the Diamondbacks in July 2023. Over parts of four minor league seasons, Bliss has compiled a .266 batting average, .350 on-base percentage, .797 OPS, and 149 stolen bases.
