Pittsburgh, PA – The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced the acquisition of infielder Cam Devanney (pronounced duh-VAY-nee) from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for infielder/outfielder Adam Frazier.

Devanney, 28, has spent the entire 2025 season with Triple-A Omaha, where he delivered standout offensive numbers: a .272 average (67-for-246), 18 home runs, 55 RBI, a .931 OPS, and 34 extra-base hits. He ranked first among all Royals full-season minor leaguers in homers, slugging percentage (.565), OPS, and extra-base hits; second in total bases (139); and sixth in batting average. Across the International League, Devanney sat top five in homers and slugging, and sixth overall in OPS.

Though his contract was selected ahead of Kansas City’s July 8 game against Pittsburgh, Devanney has not yet made his Major League debut. Defensively, he’s been a durable asset. In 2024, he started 122 games at shortstop for Omaha, compiling a strong .968 fielding percentage over 1,060.1 innings—ranking third in MiLB behind top prospects Noah Miller (Dodgers) and Josh Kasevich (Blue Jays).

Originally a 15th-round selection by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2019 MLB Draft, Devanney was traded to Kansas City in December 2023 along with pitcher Ryan Brady for Taylor Clarke. He will now report to Triple-A Indianapolis.

A corresponding move to the Pirates’ 26-man roster will be announced tomorrow.
