The Phillies have acquired infielder Buddy Kennedy from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for cash considerations.
President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski made the announcement.
The 25-year-old Kennedy, who was designated for assignment by Detroit on June 3, has spent most of this season with triple-A Toledo, slashing .234/.331/.383 (.714 OPS) with 12 doubles, three home runs and 14 RBI in 141 at-bats. Defensively, the Millville, N.J., native has made appearances at second base (22), third base (18), first base (1) and shortstop (1) for Toledo.
A right-handed batter, Kennedy has hit .205 (24-117) with two home runs and 17 RBI in 46 major league games between the Arizona Diamondbacks (2022-23) and Tigers (2024). He was originally selected by Arizona in the fifth round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
